“Three years ago was when my travel bug and love for serving people in other countries began. Back in 2013, I spent three months in the beautiful country of Fiji to do service work through the organization YWAM. It was one of the most humbling experiences of my life. I was pushed completely out of my comfort zone, and I grew so much as a person because I saw the world through a new lens.
Currently I am spending this month in Peru volunteering through IVHQ, and I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve. I have volunteered in a special needs orphanage and recovery center and an all girls orphanage as well. I travel to uplift, love, and serve others, but I find that I also receive so much in return. It is one of the most amazing feelings to experience; when the love you give is given back to you.
As I continue to travel around the world I have noticed that people have much less than I do, yet are filled with complete joy. It is a reality check, and all my petty worries simply vanish. I have learned so much about the world, other cultures, have met the most amazing people and have grown so much as a person through my travel experiences. I encourage everyone at some point in there life to be a part of a charity or volunteering program. On top of being able to love and serve others, you have the opportunity to see this beautiful world around us!”
